Ciaran Maxwell admitted living double life as ‘bombmaker and quartermaster’ for republican terrorists while serving in elite navy squad

A former Royal Marine has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for amassing an arsenal of homemade bombs intended for use in terror attacks by dissident Irish republicans.

Ciaran Maxwell, 31, had pleaded guilty to a string of terror offences. His sentence also included five years on extended licence.
