Police think the final death toll will be about 80. Only 44 have been named, along with 23 of the missing
The deaths of 54 people in Grenfell Tower have been confirmed by the police, though officers have said they believe the final death toll will be about 80.
Scotland Yard named 27 of those who died and withheld the identities of 27 more at the requests of their families. Besides those named by police, 18 people were identified when their inquests were opened and adjourned at Westminster coroner’s court – of which one remains anonymous temporarily at the request of their family. Officers believe that 255 people survived the fire.
