Downing Street hits back at criticism from politicians and people living in UK’s Caribbean territories that aid has been slow

Downing Street has defended its response to Hurricane Irma after opposition politicians added their voices to those of people living in the UK’s Caribbean territories, who have said it was too slow.

Theresa May’s spokeswoman dismissed criticism that the UK lagged behind France and the Netherlands in taking care of its territories in the path of the hurricane.
