More than 70 firefighters tackle blaze at London zoo

Staff treated for smoke inhalation and one aardvark remains unaccounted for after large fire breaks out at Regent’s Park tourist attraction

A number of staff at ZSL London zoo have been treated for smoke inhalation and one aardvark remains unaccounted for after a large fire broke out near the Meerkat enclosure in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Ten fire engines and more than 70 firefighters attended the scene after London Fire Brigade were called at 6.08am to the zoo’s Adventure cafe and shop.
