Extension comes amid concerns over country’s level of involvement in war despite claims of undertaking non-combat ‘advise and assist’ role

Canada is extending its military mission against the Islamic State group in Iraq for another two years, the country’s defense minister announced Thursday.

Harjit Sajjan left open the possibility of ramping up the offensive, saying the military would “deploy capabilities as needed”.
