European council president sets out red line for extension to the UK staying in the EU

Donald Tusk has warned after the second huge defeat of Theresa May’s deal that he expects a credible reason for any delay to Brexit.

Moments after the prime minister announced that the Commons would vote on an extension of the article 50 negotiating period beyond 29 March, the European council president issued an EU red line.
