Meeting aims to raise $1.7bn for Congolese hit by war, disease, hunger and displacement

The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo has boycotted a key donor conference in Geneva, accusing aid agencies of exaggerating the extent of the crisis in the vast central African country.

The conference, which opened on Friday, aims to raise $1.7bn (£1.2bn) for humanitarian assistance to millions suffering from war, displacement, disease and hunger.
