Trade secretary says UK should celebrate being global leader at Defence and Security Equipment International event in London

The trade secretary, Liam Fox, has mounted an unabashed defence of Britain’s arms industry at the opening of one of the biggest weapons trade exhibitions in the world.

Ignoring the large-scale protests outside of the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) event at the ExCel centre in London, Fox hailed the British arms export sector for its contribution to the country’s economy.
