Jack Shepherd sentenced in his absence for manslaughter of Charlotte Brown on River Thames in December 2015

A man found guilty of manslaughter after a speedboat crash killed his date has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Jack Shepherd, 31, the owner of the speedboat involved in the death of Charlotte Brown three years ago, was absent from court as his sentence was read out, despite pleas from Brown’s family the day before that he attend and “assume the responsibility of his guilt”.
