Migration to Britain from non-EU countries at highest level in 15 years

Net migration to Britain from the EU has dropped to the lowest level for almost a decade, fuelled by falling numbers of eastern European citizens since the Brexit vote, even as migration from the rest of the world rose.

The Office for National Statistics said that net migration from EU countries had dropped to 57,000 people in the year to September 2018, continuing to add to the population but at the lowest level since 2009.
