Pope Francis arrived in western Ireland on Sunday, where he was visiting the Knock holy shrine in County Mayo. A group of local schoolchildren welcomed the pontiff at the airport in Knock. The pope was also greeted by the archbishop of Tuam, Michael Neary, and the rural affairs minister, Michael Ring.

He was scheduled to return to Dublin later on Sunday for a mass in Phoenix Park before returning to the Vatican.
