Pride Toronto calls for police to withdraw parade application

Organisers cite police failures to properly investigate crimes against the LGBT community

Organisers of Canada’s largest Pride event have asked police to withdraw an application to march in the June parade over perceived failures by Toronto police to investigate crimes against the LGBT community.

The move comes after police charged Bruce McArthur with six counts of first degree murder earlier this year – months after Toronto’s LGBT community began voicing concerns that a serial killer was targeting men in the city’s Gay Village. Hundreds of missing persons cases are now being re-examined.
