Russian president questions why people are coming forward decades after alleged harassment took place

Vladimir Putin has spoken out against the #MeToo movement that has shaken powerful institutions around the world by revealing a pervasive culture of sexual harassment and assault – but so far failed to find a foothold in Russia.

Echoing criticisms from the Russian establishment, Putin questioned why women were coming forward decades after the alleged attacks took place and said he believed the allegations should be addressed by the courts rather than in a media campaign.
